Can you ID this iris?

This is one of my iris BEFORE I started keeping nametags. Can anyone help me identify it?

I'm not sure, but it does remind me of one of my first time bloomers, 'Inspiration'... What do you think?

I don't think so...............the colors are much paler. It's probably a pretty old iris.

It's hard to tell intensity of colors from photos... my iris pictured looks more washed-out in stronger light; the photo was taken pretty early. 'Inspiration' is an older iris -- 1930 according to PF -- click here for more photos: http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/67087/index.html

I looked at those photos and my iris just looks a lot more washed out............even more so than my pics. It's pretty even if I don't know its name. Ruth

Ruth, I'm sure there are dozens of possibilities, and hopefully some of the forum experts will come to our rescue. I'm such a newbie with irises! I just got all excited because I thought your lovely iris might be the same one now blooming its head off in my garden... no blooms last year, but the clump got big, and this year there must be at least 2 dozen flower stalks!

I think one of my favorites so far in my garden is a no-name iris I got from a local DGer (thanks, Nancy!) last year, such pretty shades of purple, so you're right -- they don't need a name to be beautiful!
