Cover planting for daffodils

What is your favorite companion plant to use with daffodils? I like to let the foliage die back naturally, but it looks so messy (you're right, Phyllis, daffs are a love/hate thing). Mine are in part shade so I'm looking for a shade tolerant companion. Sheila

I plant irises around daffodils to camouflage the dying daffodils. Even though the flowers only last a week or two, the leaves still disguise the daffodil leaves.

and I just planted some variegated monkey grass around mine. That looks great too. (and I use irises as well)
