My "Pot Luck" barrel

Discovery Bay, CA(Zone 9b)

Saw this nice Tropicana at a local spot while I was picking up a Phoenix palm. Empty wine barrel I had lying around, some plants that didn't have a home yet and I call this my Pot Luck barrel. Hopefully the differing water needs won't bite me here.

Canna, 2 types of Coleus, Sweet Potato vine, Gerbera daisy, dwarf Dahlia and Euphorbia.

Great color combination!

Most of the plants should do well. Some of the smaller plants may be squeezed out by the bigger plants though but those can be rescued or replaced by bigger plants. I had tropicana canna, variegated shell ginger, tropical hibiscus, and a few other plants in a cast iron kettle years ago and it did quite well.

I love it too!! It's a fabulous combination!

What's that beautiful coleus over on the left? If I can get one like it this year I'm going to do it. It'll ruin my color theme, but it's worth it. LOL

Thanks for the kind words.

hcmcdole, that's a great variegated looked mixed in there in yours.

Revclaus, the Coleus on the left is a Tilt a Whirl I found at Home Depot. It's starting to pick up some nice color as it gets more sun.
