Zone 4 Pitchers

Eau Claire, WI(Zone 4a)

Hello!
I recently bought a house with a large garden. In the garden are three small ponds. Two have wild iris plants, which I shall leave alone, and the third had very large goldfish that the raccoons got when the previous owner forgot to latch down the cover. It is this pond that I hope to convert into a bog. I have so far added a mixture of dried peat and rakings from beneath numereous pine trees.

I have two pitcher plants; one is a Saracenia leucophylla tornak and the other isn't. I think the other is a Saracenia purpurea, which I was told is native to my region.

What other carnivorous plants are native to this northern area? What else can I do to assure that whatever is planted in the bog will flourish?

Thanks,

Wayne

Wayne,
We are in zone 4 in Maine and I see alot of Drosera in the local bogs. I dont know a source, but am sure they would do well in WI. You can also order Sarracenia from the New England Wildflower Society (www.NEWFS.org). Good luck.
