Mystery Clematis

Denton, TX(Zone 7a)

I discovered a Clematis in my yard...I vaguely remember some friends, planting it in that spot..but the memory does not include even a clue as to the name of the Clematis....well I noticed it climbing a volunteer mulberry tree, about six feet tall...the Clem has a lot of buds that I expect will start opening in the next few days, in the meantime, here is a picture of one of the buds.

Duchess of Albany?

I don't know who it is..I will take another picture tomorrow, maybe it will be more open and we can ID it. I know it is from Chalkhill and I was obsessed with the Texsensis, and the bell like Clems at the time...it might be Lady Bird Johnson..I had that one at one time..and I have lost track of where it is.

I can remember getting Princess Diana....but not Duchess....

They are both very similar! Time to get out your garden markers and give that beauty a name!
