Hi Iris fans! I have a beautiful lush neomarica longiflora that graces me with 4 or 5 blooms daily. Lately her leaves have been getting very brown - starting at the tips and working down. We have been getting lots and lots of rain - so I haven't watered at all for a week or so....any idea what might be causing this, and how I can help her?
Brown leaves
Was my question just to silly to respond to? Sorry, but I am just looking to care for an ailing friend, and could use some advise.
Shari: Sorry I can't help you, what kind of flower is that ? I couldn't find it in the plant files..do you have a common name, maybe that would help.
Could be too much sun, or too much rain? I grew Neomarica in Victoria BC and it is still growing, according to my daughter. Can't think of anything else. I loved it, because you have a new bloom every day. In Jamaica (where I got my baby) it is often potted up or in a hanging basket. I would never do that though, because the babies need to root.

I have N. gracilis...my old, very pot-bound plant has browning leaf tips but the babies I removed are doing fine. I blame the browning on the exhausted soil. Maybe you should be fertilizing or improve the soil in the planting area.
Thank you all! Betterbloom - its a walking iris. I have changed the placement of this lovely - more shade now. If this doesn't help I will change out the pot, thanks for the tip Todd. I can't imagine putting this in a hanging planter - it stands up so proud and tall. Inanda, I love mine too, so hope it gets better. Thanks again, everyone.
