Elephant Ears

My brother just mailed me a box of elephant ear (corms?). He says that he grows them in full sun, but I just read that they can be grown in partial shade. (Of course this was in Florida, not my zone 5). Wondering if anyone in zone 5 has ever grown them. I have 90% shade and it would be much easier to find places to plant them.
