These grow to about a foot and have a daisy-like white flower. I DID know what they were but have forgotten!

I would call that a weed. I've seen some around my house.
I pull them up when I see them. I know I didn't plant them. I have never seen a flower on mine though.
The friend who gave them to me said they are a cutleaf coneflower - and now I remember they do have a yellow flower, not white like I'd thought. I'll post a picture when they eventually bloom.
