Wow..you've got some beautiful Clematis!!..I haven't seen that on my clematis...I am wondering if you are having a problem with Thrips?..Do you have the same thing happening to your roses?...Keep those pics coming..Just GORGEOUS!!..Jeanne

Beautiful Clematis growing in your garden!!! Don't forget to add your Clematis to PlantFiles!

Perhaps, slugs, snails, rabbits or deer could be munching on your Clematis "Fireworks". Do you have problems with critters in your yard?

Livermore, CA(Zone 9b)

Beautiful !!! I'm glad your pretties are opening up !

Shirley, no deer, but there are slugs, but this bud is 5' off the ground. I have slug bait around the clematis.

Thrips???

Ripon, WI(Zone 4a)

Gorgeous!

I had the same thing happen to my Henryii last year and I was told it was earwigs causing the damage. I used Seven spray on them and it helped. I do have mulch in my gardens and earwigs like the environment created by mulch - cool and moist. They come out at night to do their dirty work, that might be why you haven't seen any bugs on your plants.

If something is eating your flowers ..it might be earwigs?..Read this article..Jeanne
