I dug these Iris yesterday down in Ft. Gaines Georgia. Does anyone know what they are? They were growing on a very old homesite. Small blooms and more fuschia color than what the picture shows.
Thanks for any help,
Elaine
Iris ID from S Georgia
It appears to be a specie gladiolus, maybe byzantinus. Check link. Gladiolus are in the iris family.

It looks like Byzantine gladiolus to me. I have them flowering right now! Do they look like this?
Or how about this http://davesgarden.com/pf/showimage/78730/
wellll, duh,,, slap me and call me brain dead.. I knew that,,, what was I thinking.. I had also dug up some iris (they were covered up by the glads so not sure what color they will turn out. Probably the old fashioned-purple kind that I already have tons of..
