This bluebird was desperately trying to get into the house - going from window to window. His pathetic little cries nearly broke my heart. I'm sure he only saw reflections from outdoors and must have been seeing himself. A hummingbird was admiring himself at one of the same windows the next day.
Debra
This little guy was so cute....
Well Debra, you should have let him in..poor thing, wanted breakfast !
LOL, awww so cute!
This is going to hit the folks who can't get BBs to come to their house pretty hard, Debra! You can't keep them from wanting IN your house. Others can attract them to their back yards!
LOL! Well, if he will just be patient.....duckmother is going to give me a start on her mealyworms so I can 'grow' my own. He can come back for breakfast then!
judy, we've never had a pair of bb's to watch before - we usually only see them sporadically. I'm hoping these stick around. Don't know where the nest is but maybe we will discover later.
In the meantime....we have an Eastern Phoebe nest just above our bedroom door onto the back porch. She was determined to build a nest on top of our sound system speakers even after I knocked it down several times. She seemed so frantic to get it built that I didn't have the heart to keep knocking it down. She's been sitting on it all night for several days now.....there must be eggs. Momma and Daddy were excited about something this morning - surely it's too soon for the eggs to hatch. Incubation period is 16 days and I don't think it's been that long. I've got to get a mirror and take a peek some time she's gone.
I had a stinkin' robin last spring who would start really early in the morning on one side of my house and peck away at the window. As the sun went around the house, so did he, until he'd pecked at EVERY window on my house. Not one day, mind you... but every day for a SOLID MONTH at least. At first, it was funny. It eventually drove me, and my cocker spaniel, Sophie, nuts!

Ginger, do you mean take a picture of the mirror with the nest reflected in it? If there is some other way you will have to 'splain me.

Those babies aren't nearly as cute as in the first photo. So ugly....only their momma could love 'em.
Oh dear....that's even hard for a momma to love. :)
Yea...
It's amazing that any of those defenseless little things ever survive.
Touché to that .
