Beaded Velvet

Hi! I'm making a bolero out of black velvet to go with a dress I'm wearing to a really neat cocktail party. The pattern calls for "beaded velvet". I couldn't find any velvet beaded so I just picked up some black plain velvet, which is sooo pretty, but it probably could use some embellishing. Any suggestions? Has anyone seen a simple beading pattern that maybe I could do by hand? The beading patterns I have found online are too in depth. I want the bolero to be pretty, but I don't have the time to do an extravagant beading pattern.
