I posted this in the Floridians forum, but in case there are some of you that don't check that forum, I'm cross-posting this here as well. Does anyone else have these in their area? I've never seen one but if I do I'm sure I'll run screaming from it.
Hi everyone! I just received this from the Invasive Species Task Force Director in my county. Please help report if you've seen this non-native lizard in your area.
HAVE YOU SEEN THIS LIZARD?
ARGENTINE BLACK & WHITE TEGU
Length: over 4 feet Black bodies with whitish bands and spots
Thick, short neck Prefers open, grassy areas
Burrows; tolerates cool temperatures Could survive throughout Florida
Argentine black & white tegus have been observed in Polk and eastern
Hillsborough County, but more specific locality information is needed.

Report sightings in relation to roads; for example, corner of Ruskin-Wimauma Road and
