true blue colored clematis

Concord, NH

I'm looking for clematis that are a true blue color. I am finding that every photograph and every website shows a slightly different shade, and the descriptions vary as well - what one website or book might call sky blue, another site will call lavendar-blue. I realize that blues are notoriously difficult to photograph accurately, and that clematis flowers do vary some, depending on where they are being grown and where in the bloom cycle they are. However, I'd like suggestions based on your personal experience with clematis that look to you to be a real blue, without lavendar. Whether they are light or dark blue doesn't matter to me, and I'm not fussy about flower form with the one exception that I'm not fond of the flowers with huge pompom-like centers such as C. florida sieboldii, crystal fountain, or blue light.

Thanks!

I ordered Durandii. It's more of a true blue although it also will look purple in some photos. I can't wait to plant mine with one of my yellow roses.

This is my favorite of all the clematis, it is Durandii, this was taken in May 2005 and in August 2005 Katrina took it but I do have another that has not bloomed yet. The color is just like in the photo a lovely perriwinkle blue.
