Frost hit my potted cannas.

Granite City, IL

I had some cannas in pots outside and the freak weather went down to 23 last night. Needless to say everything blooming in the yard is down on the ground. The canna sprouts included. Will these tubers come back alive? Should I bother bringing them back in the house?

I would bring them in. The soil may not be frozen yet and the rhyzomes can come back if not frozen under the soil.

Don't feel bad. We were hit with the same 23°
and all of our Canna were in the ground. Some were
four to six inches tall and well on their way.

Now they are dead spinach. :-(

I think those frozen cannas are going to come back with a vengence... mine already look like they are ready to fight back and the snow just finished melting late yesterday.
