It's offical The Garden is Dead!!!!

Andrews, NC(Zone 6a)

I'm just sick!!! all my Clematis that were in bud are now a frozen mush. Even with covering them with blankets and tying them down the wind was howling. Woke up to 1 inch of snow and temps in the low teens. so far today to high has been 31. Some one please tell me they will bounce back and still bloom this year even if later on.
Dishearted in NC :(

Bummer! I feel for you!! I haven't gone outside to check on my Clematis after this Spring freeze/snow event that we just had. But, the garden is NOT dead! It just had a temporary set back and everything will bounce back as the temperatures climb. Just you wait and see!

Shirley,
Thanks for your encouragement. Even the Japanese Maples that had leaves
got it also. Really there isn't much left. Looking forward to warmer days.

Ah Gary, I feel for ya!!! As I type I've got sheets laid out on my hosta beds and some my clematis covered with sheets. It's supposed to get down to 17-20 tonight. A few of my hostas were mushy after last night but the clematis were OK. But I'll bet that changes after tonight.

oh - that is terrible! I'm hoping everything will come back okay - perhaps when it warms they will just have another growth spurt to make up for the loss. Tell us what happens

Stanford, CA(Zone 9b)

I feel so for you all. We had a freeze this winter that hit all of our tropicals and had some pretty bad losses. I'm hoping that most of what is frozen will return. They told us not to cut anything off for several months until you are sure that things are OK or not.

Sorry to hear that Gary, hopefully the plants will bounce back like Shirley's mentioned. Hang in there... Just a while longer.

Ohh, Gary, I feel for you also ..

It's pretty much the same thing here. Peonies, Hosta,

Plants on the south side of the house, seem to've been the least affected by the bitter cold wind that had accompanied (our) first night of the freeze.

Altho' the lil Violas, Pansies, trailing Phlox, Columbine, Lilac and the Aspen and Spruce trees seem to be lovin' it.

Saw today, that some of the Peony blossom stems .. appear to be comin' out of their 'droop', and may perhaps stand tall yet. Stayin' a bit optimistic ..

I'm afraid to look too closely - but I think my few Clematis buds are still pretty spry: at least they're not 'droopin' yet, after three nights of temps in the teens.

You hang in there .. k?
