Anyone know anything about growing Hollyhock from seed? A friend sent me seeds but I don't know how warm or cool the temperature should be before sowing the seeds. Can anyone help? I live in Oklahoma and the weather is indecisive. I'd really like to grow them.
Can anyone help...Hollyhock
Hello:Sheeba you can direct sow your seeds after the last frost.Hollyhocks usually bloom the second year growing season.
Thanks. How deeply do I sow the seeds?
Sheeba, I sow mine maybe a quarter of an inch deep. I just rake up the soil and break up any big lumps, then scatter the seeds and rake soil over them. I keep 'em well watered and they pop up within a few weeks.
I have found hollyhocks are relatively low effort to grow, as long as you sow them in a sunny location with decent soil and some protection from high winds.
