wild parsnips
Good find, that's an incredibly nasty plant that not all too many people are familiar with yet it's popping up everywhere these days. I wish more people found your website so that everyone was familiar with it before they stumbled upon it accidentally.

I found this article last year while searching for ways to control it by learning more about it. I also wanted positive ID since we have hundreds of them. Thanks for posting it, Ally. These plants are all over the place in central MO.
I don't personally have problems with it so far, but have been digging small and large out by the roots. The larger older ones are like digging out trees. No joke. So I started just cutting those off just below the crown and treating them with Tordon RTU mixed with equal parts of diesel fuel. I suppose kerosene would work ok too. That seems to kill the large roots. Since they have been dropping seeds here for decades I have a big job on my hands. But I feel I am making progress. I burn all seed heads I find repeatedly in special barrels I have for 'heat treating' weed seeds to hopefully kill them. Most weed seeds can take a burning off of the area where the grow and not be bothered at all.

Is this a wildflower or an invasive weed?
