Ice Plant by seed?

Banning, CA(Zone 9b)

hi everyone! i need to know how planting Ice plant by seed is, does it take too long? are the seeds hardy or sensitive?? do they bloom the same year they are planted or do they take a year or two to bloom? i have a very large area to plant and no one seems to have the purple ice plant.. i see them alllll over town , everywhere but cant find them at any garden center.. so we are debating wether to order flats or plant seeds...??? any info would be great! thanx

Flats are probably the way to go if you want more coverage quickly...but here's a couple sources I found for seeds if you'd rather go that way. I've never grown them from seed so can't answer your other questions. I've also never bought from any of these places so definitely check their ratings in Watchdog before you buy anything.
