Scientific name changes and corrections of birds

Northumberland, United Kingdom(Zone 9a)

Due to a typographical error in an early historical publication, the scientific name of the Barn Owl Tyto alba has been cited incorrectly in all modern texts. The spelling is to be corrected to Typo alba.

Two European birds are also being reclassified from genetic evidence.

The Spotted Eagle Aquila clanga has proved only distantly related to other eagles, and is transferred to a new monotypic genus, as Droppa clanga.

The Little Ringed Plover Charadrius dubius shows more marked DNA distinction from other Charadrius plovers that previously thought, and is also transferred to a new monotypic genus, as Verri dubius.

What do you take us for, a flock of Sula dactylatra?

However, I did read about a rare sighting of a white-faced northern mockingbird. I think the new species will be named Mimus marselmarso...
