Mislabeled plant

Saluda, SC(Zone 8a)

This was part of collection from a well known nursery. The bag was tagged "Color Tart". It looks nothing like the pictures of "Color Tart" I have been able to find. Any idea or redirect to another photo? What ever it is I think it is beautiful so would like to id it.

Gessieviolet, the nursery might be able to help you. Some commercial sites have their iris field-planted alphabetically for just this reason - it makes identifying a mismark easier.

Alphabetically 'Color Tart' is near 'Classic Look'; and I grow Classic Look which closely resembles your iris. Here is a link to three pictures of Classic Look in my Journal, BUT you will need to know my camera at that time did not capture the blue spectrum well at all. The blues came out with more red & violet tones. I have since upgraded cameras with a much better color interpretation. http://davesgarden.com/journal/j/viewentry/83487/ I hope this might be helpful, but if not you might go to Schreiners' webpage at http://www.schreinersgardens.com/ and check out a picture there.

Gessieviolet, I just went to Schreiners' and they do not have Classic Look listed for 2007. However, here are some excellent pictures right here at DG: http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/34500/index.html Hope this helps:--)

I was vacationing with my husband probably 15 years ago and we stopped at a garage sale. He had a beautiful garden area and I told him he should be selling iris rhizomes. He said he would sell one and this is what I got. I do not know the name, but it looks similar. It is big and beautiful!

prettypeony, apparently there are several that resemble our iris. Yours are beautiful. Since I don't plan to sell them I have come to the conclusion that I shoul simply enjoy it as "unknown",
