Species Iris bucharica

Willamette Valley, OR(Zone 8a)

This is blooming now. I was surprised to find it available at a big box store a couple of years ago. I completely missed the bloom last year because I didn't realize they bloomed this early and the foliage dies back after bloom. The first picture shows a bud and the foliage.

I've had some in the ground here for the last 8years, and they come up every spring (zone 5)- really pretty- and it seems quite hardy! I don't remember them having such glossy leaves...hmmm...also- i'm wondering if i ever should divide them...any body know? I think I remember they had sort of octapus like roots...
