Nice fat caudex there. Can you get it in focus better? I can't see the leaves very well.

Hi Susan, our J. berlandieri look like twins!
Here's mine sporting new growth. The stem never fall off during dormant season, although from what I read it's suppose to.

Could anyone recommend a vendor for these? I've grown a few types of adenium from seed and would love to try my hand at something new. I love 'fat plants'.

Thanks in advance for any help or direction you might provide.

MM, what have you grown from seeds? I have A. arabicum seedlings going, would love advice on when to pot up, when a caudex should appear, etc.

Here are a couple of sources for Jatropha berlandieri:

http://www.glasshouseworks.com/newplantsb.html
http://www.cactusjungle.com (you'll probably have to email them)
http://www.gardinonursery.com/product_info.php?&products_id=291&osCsid=a490bb6aca08b24f1161e65c8421269b

Also try eBay. Right now there are four J. berlandieri offered for sale there.

Great Petaluma Desert also has a few of them or so for sale.

I didn't add them because I didn't think to look under the "New Releases" section. I just looked in the plant list. Good catch!
