Yoshino Cherry

Seale, AL(Zone 8b)

Yesterday I saw this huge and I mean huge Prunus x yedoensis 'Somei Yoshino'. it was like standing in a small shade grove. Gues s the orrginal tre e had been damaged and what is there now looks like 5 big sperate trees is actually one with a bunch of suckers spread out.

Somebody can through and has trimmed some of the branches down near the ground. I noticed alll around those cuts that it has put out lots of new little suckers. Does anybody happen to know if I cut those suckers off and plant them will they root and grow?

Who ever maintinign that section is just gonna come back and hack them off too and if they can be rooted, I want to get them and pot them up. No sense letting them hit the compost pile. They sure are pretty when they in bloom in a mas s section like that.
