What is the latest word on lead soil removal. How deep? Cover before adding new soil?

As an environmental consultant, I recommend that you check with your state's Department of Environmental Quality for that info, as there are often certain requirements that have to be met when 1) removing contaminated soil, and 2) disposing of it. For example, Washington State has tighter and more complicated requirements than the federal EPA.

It may well be that you want even lower levels than the state allows, and that's fine (heck, encouraged), but you want to make sure you make at least their minimum requirements.
