Anemone Sylvestris

San Jose, CA(Zone 9a)

This plant looks perfect for my small shade garden but the book I have advises against it for mixed beds due to its aggressive nature. I have seen gardening shows where they will essentially plant a large plastic pot along with the plant to contain it.

Will this work with this Anemone or should I just move on to something else?

Thanks

Helena, MT(Zone 4b)

Is your book written by someone in your climate? Anemone sylvestris is definitely not invasive here in my semi-arid zone 4! It needs some encouragement.

(Zone 4a)

It is not invase in Zone 4A either.

It forms a nice little colony. They are truly worth growing!

I've planted this beauty a couple of times, but didn't manage to keep it alive!
So certainly not invasive in my place! I will try it again because I really love it.

Yes I have also tried and failed with this lovely plant. Do give it a try!

Hammond, IL(Zone 5a)

I have anemone sylvestris happily colonizing at the s.w. edge of a pine row...getting filtered sun most of the day...thinkin of dividing soon as it peeks out this spring.
