Spigelia Marilandia will have the best chance where?

Georgetown, SC(Zone 8a)

OK shade garden experts,
If you had just one Spigelia Marilandia (Indian Pink) to plant, would you plant it:

a. In a wet and poorly drained spot where it gets half shade and half sun (sun part is mid-day), or
b. In a nearly full shade spot that's got reasonably moist, but possible a bit clay-ish soil?

Notice there is no "c" choice of "Neither"! ;->
The above is what I have to choose from and I don't want to kill the poor thing straight away! :)

Thanks for any help-

DebinSC ~ go for the wet and poorly drained spot where it gets half shade and half sun (sun part is mid-day)...

I found some growing wild by the pond on the edge of the woods. I, too, am in 8a. The Spigelia received morning high sun with shade in the afternoon. Our soil is a sandy, clay base and these plants prefers a moister area.

I dug it up as we had our pond enlarged and the spillway was changing. I potted them and hope to replant in a suitable spot. I wasn't smart enough to harvest any seed last summer. This was a wildflower plant. I love it!

I do hope you are successful, if not, I will try to save some seeds this year... pod

Thanks, Podster!
That's where I was leaning. If it likes moist, then that's sure what it will get. :)
I'll let you know how it goes. Hope you find a good spot for yours!
