Osprey are arriving !!!

Linthicum Heights, MD(Zone 7a)

Osprey sightings are occurring here in Maryland which is an encouraging sign that Spring is near. Their annual journey of up to 6,000 miles roundtrip is quite fascinating. Like with the Bald Eagle, I never tire of photographing this incredible raptor.

Here are a few photos I took last year.

Thank you for these awesome shots Linth. What a wicked looking, magnificent raptor. I've never seen one so I'm curious as to how big his wingspan is.

You sure do share some incredible photos with us. I've really enjoyed them.

We still have these beautiful raptors in Montgomery County - north of Houston. I love watching them from October through end of March or so on Lake Conroe. I'll pay attention this year for sure when I see the last one. They make the most interesting sounds when they are proud of their catch! I'll think of you when I don't see them anymore.

Great series! Nice shootin Linth!

Gladwin, MI(Zone 5a)

Great shots. I had one here in late January, hunting at my bird feeders. Of course I could not get a shot as he saw me in the window. I had never seen one up close like that before, only out over the lake hovering and swooping. What a wonderful bird to see. I had seen him 4 times in Jan, then the other day being chased by ravens. Did this one stay here? I thought they left during the winter.
