reccomendations please

Louisville, KY

I am building trellises to screen my compost piles and cold frames. My plan is to cover the trellises with late summer blooming clematis and climbing roses.

I have picked the roses for the trellises , and they are in various shades of pink.

I have bought 10 box store clematis in the past two years. All are alive , but one got wilt last year. They are placed along the fence at the back of the garden.

I would like reccomendations for my trellises. The trellises are l=10ft, h = 9 ft for the first one; l=4ft, h= 9 ft for the second one and l = 8ft, h = 9 feet for the third one.

I would like wilt resistant , large flowering, pruning group 3 ( for sun light on the cold frame in the spring) . I am thinking of purchasing from silver star vinery. I sure would appreciate your suggestions.

Viticellas (Group C or III) are all wilt resistant and they bloom in late Summer.

Silver Star Vinery is an excellent website for Clematis and if you have any questions, just e-mail the owner, Debbie. She'll be happy to help you out.

So glad that you got good advice from Debbie. The "sky's the limit" when growing Clematis. There ALWAYS room for one more! :~)
