NOT Prissy Miss

Crosby, TX(Zone 9a)

Just wondering if any of you might know what this may be, it was labeled Prissy Miss when I bought it, BUT, from all of the pictures I've seen, think it must have been a mistake. I went thru the names of the ones I bought last year, and it doesn't look like any of mine were supposed to look like this. I think it's still pretty, but would love to have the correct name on it.

Is this an iris you purchased from a retail store like Wal-Mart, Home Depot, Lowes, etc? If so, those types of stores are notorious for selling mislabeled irises. In fact, it seems like the majority of irises sold by the "marts" are incorrectly labeled. If that's the case, your iris may well be a culled seedling and not a registered, named cultivar at all.

It's certainly pretty, though, named or otherwise.

I've found that to be true with daylilies also, but I purchased this one from a lady on ebay the end of last summer. I've emailed her to see if she could give me the correct name, but, still haven't heard back.

Ask the eBay gal if she purchased it originally from one of the "marts". Prissy Miss is one of the iris names most commonly marketed in those dried out packages at the marts. If the eBayer purchased it originally under that name at a mart, she might actually believe that it is Prissy Miss.

We MAY have the problem solved. I finally heard back from her and she's looked in her "bed map" and said it's a HUGE possibility that it's "Waterworld". She said it is planted on one side of Prissy Miss. She said she would have to wait until hers start blooming and make sure (she's in a cold climate) , but it LOOKS like that's what the mistake could have been. She couldn't believe I already had blooms. She thought maybe with it coming from a cold climate to a warmer one probably caused it to bloom a bit earlier and the color variation may be due to the first bloom, soil differences, etc. I'm not sure about irises, but, I know this causes different colors in daylilies.

Yep, that looks like a good possibility to me, too.
