Well,
We just booked our airplane tickets last evening and today I purchased our flower show tickets! It is so exciting to be thinking about attending this flagship event! This will be our first time to London and we'll be there six days!
Who has attended in the past? I would love to hear about it.
Anyone else planning on attending this year?

Chelsea Flower Show 2007
I worked there one year.... was the worst day of my life ... Sorry. lol
I do think its different as a member of the public though. Just don't try and get a job there!
Mike
Sorry that sounded really negative even for me... you will love it really. The best bit for me was the journey home. lol
Seriously it was the tent with the small charity types and local groups or specialists..... these people actually care about the plants where as the big ones are usually by companies so its all about showing off for the publicity.
Hope you have fun
Mike
Well, Sorry to hear that it was not so fun for you. I'm glad I will be viewing from the 'other' side.
jagonjune and Annabelle from Edmonton, Alberta (Canada) will be attending it as well Shady.
Nah from a vistors point of view it would be great. The crowds can be annoying so get there early!
Have fun
Mike
I went 1994 and it was fabulous even though it was baking hot and i was 8 months pregnant lol. We also had breakfast in one of the big marquees? It was gorgeous. Would highly recommend you book breakfast/lunch. The plants were out of this world you will feel like a kid in a candy store. Shame you can't get any back on the plane. Its like a little piece of heaven on earth!!!!
formidablelady,
Yes, it will be a shame that I can't take any plants back home.
What is this about booking breakfast/lunch? Will there not be places to just stop and pick up a quick bite, on the inside? Or do I really need a reservation, if I want to sit down? I understand that once we leave we can not re-enter.
Shady
As far as I can remember there are quick places to eat. I just thought if you want to make it extra special you can book your breakfast or lunch in the marquee. You are waited on and its relaxing and lovely. We had a full english breakfast with all the trimmings and it tasted Fab.
Sounds interesting, to take a break at lunch and be served like this sounds like it would be very nice. I was justing looking at the Chelsea site. Are most of these restaurants outside/inside the grounds of the flower show?
Just had a look at the site myself at www.rhs.org.uk/chelsea/2007/showinfo/catering.asp if you go into show info and catering it lists loads of places to eat. We were in the Rock Bank Restaurant overlooking the show gardens. Can't remember the exact cost. It wasn't cheap but not outrageously expensive either. I think it was well worth it. You might as well spoil yourself as you are flying all the way over.....
Thanks for the info, I think our feet will be happy for a rest, so why not do it style!

I'm visiting England for a couple weeks and was contemplating going down to Chelsea, but changed my mind. I've been watching Alan Titchmarsh's re-cap's in the evenings, so I don't feel completely horrible for missing the show in person. Those crowds look awful! Tell me I made the right decision.
You made the right decision... its Horrible!
I can't go. Please take pictures for us back in the States.
I Just got back a couple of days ago and we had a great time, we got there when it opened at 8 we made it through the grand pavilion without the crowds, then it sure did fill up. yes there were lots of people, but everyone was nice and you just have to squeeze your way in sometimes. I am so glad I got the chance to experience Chelsea and London for that matter.
