Earwigs/wormie things

Westminster, CO

Does anyone know if earwigs attack flowers and shrubs? I have hundreds of these bugs and most of my plants have holes in them. The holes might be caused by slugs, however. Like a bad person, I got desperate last year and went crazy with the Bug-B-Gone. Well, the earwigs are back, and I haven't seen one Lady Bug this year. I've learned my lesson. Just wondering if earwigs are causing problems, or should I just ignore them.

I also have these short, brown, worm-like creatures that roll up like a snail when they die. Does anyone know what these are? Are they harmless?? Thanks so much!

My MIL says earwigs have been eating up all of her plants. She puts out shallow cans of water with a little vegetable oil floating on the top to drown them. (Note: don't use tuna fish cans unless you want cats in your garden.)

Thanks, Zippy - I'll give it a try! Maybe I'll catch some slugs at the same time.
