Companion plants for JI's

Long Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Can anyone recommend a suitable low growing companion plant to put around Japanese Iris ?
I'm trying to fill in around mine so there is something there while they are dormant.
It doesn't have to be a flowering plant...but that would be an added bonus.

Thanks,

There are moisture loving primula that could give you another season of color. Something with a fluffy texture would be a nice contrast with those sword like leaves, but I'm not familiar enough with plants for your zone to make a recommendation.

hymenocallis that don't get very tall would be great.

JI's want a very wet spring so keep that in mind for whatever you select.
