Bamboo ???

Bee Spring, KY(Zone 6a)

Is their really anyway to ID Bamboo if you know nothing about it? A lady I knew from work told me about some bamboo that was gonna get dozed down in her neighbors yard...........so naturally I ran to get some. LOL
It looked like a jungle, huge, tall, thick. I believe you could have climmed it like a tree. It was a major task to only get a few pieces of runners. I took them home and watered regular, some lived. I now have a nice bunch around my pool deck. It does have runners just under ground. And cold weather doesn't hurt it. All the lady could tell me was it came from over sea's.
It's no biggie but it would be nice to tell someone the correct name when asked.
I'll try to take some pictures and post them.

One of the most common cold-hardy Bamboos is Phyllostachys aureosulcata, AKA Yellow Groove Bamboo. Google it for pictures which will help you ID it.

Thank you donn.
I do believe it is the Yellow Groove, the pictures look just like mine. Also some of mine has the zig zag at the bottom.
p.s. Been out on Long Island. A very beautiful place.
