get rid of zoysia in new beds

Is it safe to use roundup to get rid of zoysia where I want to put a perennial bed or will spraying inside the bed also kill the grass outside the bed?

Nancy, I use roundup to kill zoysia every year. When you start seeing dead splotches in the lawn like polka dots..I know exactly what it is from. LOL...Dont walk on the area as you spray and then walk on the good lawn...it will leave dead footprints. (Guess how I know that!)

Thanks, Chris -- good adivice. My lawn is zoysia, and I'm wondering if the roundup will travel through the roots and kill the whole lawn (which I don't want to have to replace right now) or if it will just kill the grass that I spray.

It will only kill the grass you spray, unless it blows onto something else. I use a priority mail box cut open and stood up like a temporary wall as a guard if anything is close to where I am spraying.
