Twin or Triple Wall Polycarbonate Panel Suppliers? MD/DE/PA?

Abingdon, MD(Zone 7a)

Hi,

I've searched for weeks trying to find a "local" supplier of polycarbonate panels anywhere near Maryland.

If anyone knows of any distributors or suppliers in the area, please respond or DMail to me.

There are a few companies on the Internet but most want a crating charge, truck freight charge, etc. that quickly adds up to $400-$500 in just shipping alone...not good for a guy that just needs a few $120. panels.

Any ideas? Watchdog has no listings either!

Thanks,

Ray

Thanks for the link and info. but unfortunately, I'm not sure they are still in business.

The website looks great...but nobody is home.

(3) Emails, A bunch of phone calls, (2) Messages left > They don't answer the phone during normal business hours during the day?, left a couple messages now, with no return calls.

Unless this isn't "Greenhouse Season"? (Seems like it is to me!)

Maybe I'll try banging on their door!

Thanks though...

Ray

It's possible that they're no longer in business, but perhaps not. The page info reads:

URL: http://www.cloudtops.com/polycarbonate_verolite.htm

It's been a while since it was updated, but as price information isn't listed on that page, an update may not have been necessary. A whois lookup with Network Solutions (who the domain is registered with) reveals:

Perhaps there are some other ways to contact them, from the above info. It appears the Host has either made their fax info private, or an omission occurred during the registration. *shrug*

Thanks for the info...Sent an email to the other listed address...no response yet.

I feel like I'm on the search for the "Holy Grail" here.

I've now also contacted 3 major manufacturers of twin/triple wall polycarbonate for distributor lists in my area. Two of the three did not respond, the one that did would only direct me to a company in Beltsville, MD (near Wash. D.C.) but they have a 14 sheet minimum.

There just HAS to be someone in MD/PA/DE/VA that sells by the sheet???

RaytheGardener,

How did you contact the manufacturers; do you have phone numbers or email addresses? If you don't want to post the info, would you send it by email--hdc@hughes.net?

Thanks,

Hank

Quick note to Eggs....I emailed the owner at his personal address and got a reply! (Said he was closed down for a while)? So I might (finally) be able to go get these panels and put up my greenhouse before my house explodes from the plants in every sunny window!

So...the "Quest for the Grail" might be at an end...(I hope).

Hank & All Interested

The manufacturers I contacted were the following:

GE Plastics (Manufacturers of LEXAN/Thermoclear/Verolite Multi-wall polycarbonate) http://www.geplastics.com/sfs/SFS/en/ProductsAndServices/FamilyGroup/multiwallsheet.html

Palram Products (Manufacturers of Palram Sunlight/Suntuff Multi-wall polycarbonate)
http://www.palram.com/HTMLs/home.aspx

Polygal (Manufacturers of Polygal/Thermogal Multi-wall Polycarbonate panels)

Piedmont Plastics(Distributor of many types of sheet plastics)
http://www.piedmontplastics.com/

And maybe a few more.... Again, my goal was to avoid paying $300. for shipping 2-3 panels that cost around $300. Most online sellers charge crating (up to $150. per order) and freight (Up to $300. per order) for all Internet orders that require shipping.

Good Luck!

Ray

Thanks, I found much of the same information. Hopefully you have a bigger job or have better luck getting a response than I did.

Personally, I think it was due to the fact that I only needed a few (2-3) sheets and tried to get information via email or their website on-line information requests. I have to admit, I was surprised at the general lack of interest displayed by all of them. It seems to me that it would be in their best interests to at least point you/me towards someone selling their products. 2-3 sheets today could be 2-3 hundred at some later day.

That said, before I leave this thread, I feel I should share my experiences:
GE Plastics did not reply to my email request.
Palram did not reply to my (2) distributor information requests- I eventually found the email of Frank Garger as well and asked if I could just drive up to their PA location and purchase some panels. Frank gave me no direct response and no local distributor info. other than telling me that I could purchase their multi-wall polycarbonate at 84 Lumber or Home Depot. After a long, wasted afternoon I found that neither chain carries their multi-wall products and neither one would allow me to order them???
Piedmont Plastics Responded by telling me they have a 14 sheet minimum and 4 week ship time. When I replied to "all" including their sales HQ, then the next reply was that I could buy what I needed at any location that stocked what I was interested in...but no info. on stocked items at Beltsville, MD which is what I requested???

A bit of a rollercoaster ride to be sure....and I still don't have the 2-3 sheets I need (but I'm much closer now)!

Before I leave the thread...I do want to THANK EVERYONE here though...all have been extremely helpful.

Sincerely,

Ray

fwiw - A while back I was in the Lowes in Plattsburgh NY and in the area where they stock their metal & fiberglass roofing there were several twin-wall polycarbonate panels - I do not think this is a normal stock item for them because this is/was the only time I ever saw it there - either it was a messed up shipment from a supplier or a special order no one came for: If it was the latter perhaps if you have a Lowes near you - you could order it there.
