Non-toxic dye or paint for gourd birdhouses?

What can I use to color or decorate my gourds I am making into birdhouses? I don't want to poison the birds or the smell to cause the bird to avoid them.

Crimson....just don't paint the insides....don't forget to drill little holes (2 or 3) in the bottom so if rain gets inside it will drain out.....and put a piece of small dowel under the entrance hole for the bird to perch on when feeding babies....

I use just craft acrylic paints then cover them with polyeruthene (sp) clear spray to make the paint last longer.

Speaking of babies...how's your sweet baby doing...have you posted pictures lately? I will be in Crossville after May 21st....maybe we can get together. Jo
