Tales from the General Store

Augusta, GA(Zone 8a)

On cold rainy days, many of the old folks would go to the store and sit around the pot-bellied store and swap yarns, If any of you are old enough to remember , lets share some.

Clint is expounding on his crop. He is especially proud of his cabbage. " Why, he says, I have a head of cabbage so big that 12 men holding hands can't reach a round it." " Now thats a cabbage" sez Joe. "But you know, my son Bill went to the city to work." "Yep" sez Clint, "what 's he doing up there". " "He is working in a boiler factory" sez Joe , and you know they are building a boiler so big, that the men on one side can't hear the men hammering on the other side". "Whoa" sez Clint, "what are they going to do with a boiler that big?" Sez Joe, "why cook your big cabbage of course."
