I'm in central NH, right on the zones 4/5 transition. It's reached -22 here a couple of winters in the 10 years I've been in this location. Do you have any specific or general questions I or we can help you with? A couple of resources for cold weather growing are Plymouth State University (if you are anywhere nearby, they have quite a variety of plants as well as occasional plant walks, so you can see how plants come through our winters) and U of ME (they do hardiness tests at the Littlefield gardens, among other things.)
I'm in that 4/5 transitional area too and, boy is it chilly out today. Thank the heavens for silk longjohns! ohh..........................and Southern Comfort too.

zone4/5 here in Maine too, no S.C. but I was known to do a shot of J.D. in my younger days. LOL
