Heres just another way to tell apart a Coopers from a Sharp-shinned Hawk. The Coopers head into beak looks like a continuous line, like 1 "c" and the Sharp-shinned looks like 2 "c"'s or with an indentation in the middle. The information is provided by a gentleman that works for a Falcon Research Group in Washington.

That's the best description of the difference I've seen. Of course, I will still have to remember which one has which beak!!!
Yes, it would have to be a profile to tell by this way. I think this makes the Hawk photos I posted in the "Hawks in the Backyard" thread a Sharpie and not a Coopers.
