Beautiful! And your camera takes very good pictures of red amaryllis which is sometimes hard to do!!!

Do you know what variety it is? It has a gorgeous, dark throat!

Now, you can become addicted like the rest of us. Welcome to the club!

Thank You!
I got it at Walmart and the name is 'Red Lion'. Then I started reading here that you don't always get what you think you're getting at these type of stores. But it looks like I got lucky and it is Red Lion. It is so pretty, and kind of velvety looking. Are they all velvety like that?

Thanks for the welcome! I was so amazed at how fast they grow!!! You can almost 'see' them growing. LOL

Not all of them, but a lot of the reds are... Some are sparkly and have diamond dusting and those are neat, too!

Nice my guess was Red lion! Good job!

It's very pretty Sherry! It truly is hard to photograph red, so ya done good girl!!!! I recently bought an 'Apple Blossom' from Wal-mart. Turned out to be 'Red Lion'. Bummer! I already have like 5 Red Lions! Being that I bought the bulb in a North Carolina Wal-Mart, couldn't even TRY to return it!! As if they'd even consider a return anyway. Me thinks I'll be giving away some Red Lions. I reallly want Apple Blossom. Sorry for the rant, LOL.

GH

You're right. It is very difficult to capture a true red.
You did a great job! :-)

Sherry,
Your right, you don't always get what you they are labeled as.
This was supposed to be Red Lion.
Now, I have no clue what it is.
Arrrggg! Its really a bummer.

That looks like Apple Blossom to me. Sounds like you should trade it with Grow Happy for one of her Red Lions.

Wow! Ya just never know. Now I'm really confused. lol

It could be Rainbow. Here's mine. The actual bloom is more pinkish than redish. To confuse things, there is a big variation in coloration of the bloom. Last year my Rainbow was all white with a pink picotee edge. This year it looked like this. This message was edited Feb 14, 2007 7:07 PM

This is my double record. It is more redish with a white stripe down the center of each petal.

Bsharf your double is Dancing Queen!

Southern, LA(Zone 8b)

Hmmm, Thanks bsharf.

I think it looks a little more like your rainbow.
Its getting down to 30 deg. tonight, so I had to
protect my baby. I put a rod in the ground and then
threw a sheet over it . Hope it makes it.
Tomorrow night its supposed to go down to 26 deg.
Yuck!

Kniphofia: you're right my bulb is Dancing Queen, not Double Record: another mislabeled bulb. I just checked the PF. Thanks for the correction. So I agree that louisianamom's bulb is Double Record. In the world of mislabelled bulbs, thank goodness for DG!!!!!!

Thanks yall!

I will go write this down in my garden journal.

Dont ya hate when you dont know the name
of your plants? LOL
