Now you guys have caught my attention again. I planted Batik last year and have my fingers crossed that it will bloom this spring. But other than that I know little about BBs. I know they aren't as tall as TB's but that's about it. I can't remember if they bloom before or after TB's. I do really like Orinoco Flow and Simmer. I hope Batik blooms for me this year. I have seen it bloom elsewhere and know I like it.
Any special recommendations as to where BB's fit in best?

BBs bloom simultaneously with TBs. They are essentially TBs that just don't quite make it up to TB height. The flowers are also a bit smaller than TBs, but not obviously so. They are good mid-border plants as long as you can keep them on the dry side. Orinoco Flow is absolutely stunning in person. Here are a few of my other favorite BBs ...

If you want bearded irises that span the bloom period between SDBs and TBs, take a look at IBs. They are the same height range as BBs, but the plants are proportionately smaller overall. They are also more hardy as a group in my growing conditions than are BBs.
