recommendation for antivirus program

Gretings,

For the last few years I've used EZ Antivirus, downloadable (for a small fee) from Computer Associates. I've been very happy with the way it has worked for me, but on my new computer, it interferes with the newest version of Eudora which I use for email. I have to snooze the antivirus in order to download or read email. If not, it Eudora fails to respond. Since I had another year of paid subscription, I decided to use it in that manner, but now that it is about to expire, I'm looking for new Anitivus protection. I've been told by many people that Norton has major problems with compatibility as well.

What are your recommendations for an effective antivirus program, preferably easy to download and use with frequest updates and a minimum of compatibility issues? Anti-spyware as well?
