opinions on flannel, please

Howdy! I've been on DG for a while but this is my first time to this forum. I haven't made a quilt in 20 years, and now I have three going (a star, an irish chain, and a hole in the barn door). I'm kind of taken with the idea of making a cathedral windows quilt, and have never done one before. The thing is, I'm thinking of making it out of flannel, and would appreciate any experience y'all have had.

Cautions? Excitement?
