Simple square blocks patterns?

I hope you can help. My college girl has picked out 4 colors of blue to make a quilt to use in her dorm room. We have been looking at simple ways to put the blocks together to make a pattern. Most of my quilt patterns are several pieces to each block. Is flying geese very difficult? Any help will be appreciated. She will be doing most of the work so it needs to be easy. I have seen a book called Weekend Quilts.
