Amaryllis food?

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Wondering what you all feed your amaryllis bulbs thru spring/summer?

They get what most of my plants get... a time release fertilizer like Osmocote at planting-out, and an occasional dose of Miracle Gro. Most bulbs got bigger over the summer, although a couple seemed to stay about the same size for me this past year (one put its energy into offsets rather than into the mother bulb and I think was actually smaller when I lifted it).

Same here.

Tried to stick with 20-20-20 last summer, but did use some 15-30-15. This year I'm going to start with 24-8-16 unless I find one with a little more K. Will most like feed 1/4 strength every watering, then an occasional full strength dose, and maybe a couple pure water feeds now and again.

I'd also like to add that I include copper with each watering for preventing rust and other fungus. I HATE fungus! There's nothing more tragic than experiencing a bulb slowly turning to mush.

I use Miracle grow for everything at half strength every other watering.

gordo - where do you find copper (Lowes?) and how do you use it (is it a liquid)?
