Red Bellied Woodpeckers

These are one of my Favorite visitors!

Sensational shot, Pelle!!! The bird is incredible, of course, but boy oh boy did you ever take a great picture!

Thanks Murmur! Luckily they stay in one spot for a while eating so I'm able to get lots of shots. I currently have 2 males and 1 female visiting.

Pell: That sure is a good picture. What are you feeding it ?

This is a seed brick with all types of seed. He also like the Peanut Silo that I have thats filled with peanut halves. I also have 4 types of suet out and he enjoys the Insect suet and the Seed suet.

Not the best shot I've ever gotten of one of 'em, but she just wound't come to the feeder! I can't put up suet this year yet - it keeps melting! :)

Nice pic Deb! I don't see my female nearly as often as the males.

DH took these one morning in March 2005.

Here is a female Red Bellied at the old fence post (here before we built the house) that I added Jif extra crunchy peanut butter.

She got a tasty little morsel of a peanut.

Here she is sticking out her tongue.

Thats a really nice photo!! I have put peanut butter in the trees but we have so many squirrels that birds usually don't get a chance to eat it.

Looks like she got another peanut!

I love it when they stick out their tongue. Here one of those times.

The squirrels around here climb up the post and eat the nutty peanut butter too.

Thank you! I like to see them in a more natural setting (like a tree) better but its hard for me to get a good shot with all the branches in the way.

Love the last few shots. Is she a young one? She looks very healthy.

We've been feeding the birds (on feeders and on the ground) every day each year since December 2000. Hummingbird feeders in the Spring and Summer months too.

Yes, she getting well fed here at our house and yard. LOL

She may be a young one (born earlier in 2005), don't know, but she and all the birds get plenty to eat every day. lol

I really love the Red Bellies. I have WAY too many photos of them.

This Red Belly is in FL at the Suncoast Seabird Santuary (we were vacationing last January). DH took this one.

This is a young one that was born in 2006. Looks like a male Red Belly (colors aren't as bright) feeding himself crunchy peanut butter from the post. I took this one early July in the evening.

Very Cute!! Funny to see the head so light.

I can't believe what time it is, I really need to get to bed. I've been on the computer all day.
