My DD received as a Christmas gift a potted plant from her boss that is labeled "polyanthus jasmine. She asked me what I know about it and I was not able to find the exact plant because of the name. Don't know what is meant by common name, genus, etc. all the info that is required to access this vine. Any help you can give me to pass on to her will be appreciated.

polyanthus jasmine
I would assume it's this one, Jasminum polyanthum

That;s what I came up with, too. I wrote DD what I learned from that and just hope it's the one. If it wasn't her boss who had sent it she wouldn't be so worried about trying to do it correctly. Hopefully, her boss will not be coming to Houston and will never really know how the thing grows (or not) but she will probably ask DD how it is doing.
Thanks a bunch for your help, ecrane3. This reinforces what I thought.

Unless the plant is completely mislabelled (which is of course entirely possible!) that's really the only thing it could be.
