No name cattleya hybrid, small plastic like flowers that shine when light hits them.

The unknown Cattleya looks similar to RUK's Blc. Dennis Kone...is it fragrant?

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

Todd, I'm not sure will have to check it out. I have this one blooming too, C. Ports of paradise "Emerald Isle" starts out a deep lime and turns yellowish later on. Its fragrant.

Stunning...I saw one of those at an orchid show last winter.

Do you mind if I add one of mine that just opened this morning? Laelia Anceps.

Linda, very nice, we use to have anceps in our collection, but I fear its no longer there. We had percivaliana too, not much for fragrance but awesome cattleya color. :-)

Eclipse,
Nice stuff. The V. tricolor is quite prolific indeed! The copper/rust colored cattleya, how big exactly are the flowers and plant? Height?
Huiray.

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

the cattleya is about 14 inches tall (plant) and the flowers are about4 1/2 inches wide and tall. Not a huge flower but different.

Wish I knew it's name. I'd get that one. I love anything that's salmon colored.

Eclipse,
That salmon colored orchid is gorgeous. And how on earth do you get it to bloom like that? I noticed your potting medium looks like it has a some light potting soil in it? What fertilizer do you use? I do real good to get 1 or 2 blooms on a plant - you have what looks like 7 or 8. Do you mind sharing your methods / secrets?

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

Susan, I use regular packaged orchid mix.Shultz brand (Lowes or Home Depot) Fertilizer is a water soluable from Peters or Scott's 20-20-20 sometimes it varies in formulation. Orchids grown in greenhouse conditions will always have more flowers than growing under home conditions.Repot every two years and water 2 or 3 times a week.Thats all I do.
