Mallow Scrub Hairstreak (Strymon columella)
Based on the coloration, Puddy has photographed a female. Great shots with beautiful detail. The National Auduon Society "Field Guide to North American Butterflies" has this listed as the Columella Hairstreak. The second time that Guide has given me heartburn. Today, here in Houston, I captured some quick shots, not very good ones, of the male Mallow Scrub-Hairstreak.

Here also is a shot of the dorsal side.
We need some consistency on posting of this species. Both the National Audubon Society and Glassburg's "Butterflies through Binoculars - The East" list this as Strymon columella. The BugFiles show it under a heading of Strymon estapia, yet on PuddyPrint's photo the species is listed as Strymon columella.

The Mallow Scrub Hairstreaks out here vary in color and markings. Our local NABA chapter lists only the Strymon istapa. I've contacted Dave's Garden and asked them to move the images to Strymon istapa.
